The questions surrounding clean up of TEPCO's #Fukushima nuclear disaster site continue to pile up this week with no end in site.  Find out where we stand this week, step-by-step:

STEP 1 EDUCATE & SAFEGUARD
Bureaucratic inflexibility is what hampered the response in Japan to 3.11’s triple meltdown disaster and it’s what’s causing problems in Japan today with Covid-19.  When will Japan learn?

STEP 2 EVACUATE #FUKUSHIMA NOW
Last year the mayor of Osaka says TEPCO can dump its radioactive waste water in their bay if they want, I wonder if he asked local fishermen if that was a good idea?

STEP 3 CONTROL & CONTAIN
Beyond Nuclear is supporting efforts to block the dumping of said radioactive waste water from TEPCO’s #FukushimaDaiichi plant into the ocean.  Click the link to see how YOU can help:

STEP 4 NUCLEAR POWER IS OVER
The nuclear power industry wants one thing (money) and the people want another (safety).  In this study, local Japanese illustrate that the illusion of nuclear safety isn’t worth the risk:

HEY #FUKUFIGHTERS!
Whenever Libbe HaLevy gets Karl Grossman on the Nuclear Hotseat Podcast, you know it’s going to be a spirited and informative conversation as this week’s interview will show.  The best weekly newsmagazine about all things nuclear is a must-bookmark:

As structures around #FukushimaDaiichi continue to crumble, when we'll see the end of decontamination at the site is anybody's guess.  Learn more about the decline of TEPCO and the nuclear energy industry right here, step-by-step:

STEP 1 EDUCATE & SAFEGUARD
As TEPCO’s top dog Takashi Kawamura readies for resignation, the company that’s overseeing the decommissioning of the #FukushimaNuclearDisaster looks ahead to a dim future:

STEP 2 EVACUATE #FUKUSHIMA NOW
A recently published Japanese study suggests that radioactive decontamination efforts in #Fukushima came too late to be effective:

STEP 3 CONTROL & CONTAIN
Piece by piece they’re dismantling the crumbling, radioactive parts of #FukushimaDaiichi.  Where do they get disposed of safely, that’s the question:

STEP 4 NUCLEAR POWER IS OVER
2 more nuclear reactors went offline this week after long fights with environmentalists.  The thing most people forget is shutting down a reactor is just step one in a much longer process that still involves risk:

HEY #FUKUFIGHTERS!
One of our favorite non-profits is SORA in Japan.  This animal shelter has been taking care of wayward #Fukushima pets ever since 2011 and now with coronavirus taking it's toll, they need your help!  Give what you can to help the puppies and kitties in #Fukushima:

You can choose to believe the mainstream cover-up narrative about #Fukushima radiation OR you can learn more about it yourself.  #FukuFighters know the drill, step-by-step:

STEP 1 EDUCATE & SAFEGUARD
Legal loopholes have left the sailors from #OperationTomodachi from getting justice, let alone their day in court.  General Electric dodges another bullet thanks to another court decision against U.S. naval personnel who were there help at #Fukushima:

STEP 2 EVACUATE #FUKUSHIMA NOW
The 2020 Olympic Torch relay was supposed to start in #Fukushima but with the Games postponed,  it’s up to YouTuber BirdhairJP to show how radioactive a run that actually would have been for participants:

STEP 3 CONTROL & CONTAIN
In 2012, a study showed that plant workers at TEPCO’s stricken #Fukuhsima reactors showed signs of PTSR and psychological distress.  I wonder what it’s like for those workers today, 9 years later:

STEP 4 NUCLEAR POWER IS OVER
What’s it like living around Chernobyl’s Exclusion Zone?  A new documentary lifts the veil behind the 30 year old nuclear disaster and it’s aftermath in Ukraine:

HEY #FUKUFIGHTERS!
Sick of hearing about the radioactive water problem at #Fukushima Daiichi?  Storing the water properly vs. dumping it into the ocean is the way to go but TEPCO and the IAEA have different ideas.  Make your voices heard #FukuFighters by adding your name to the linked petition and let them know it is NOT cool to dump into the already-compromised Pacific Ocean:

The threats facing our planet from nuclear fallout are myriad and constant.  Get caught up on all the latest news, step-by-step:

STEP 1 EDUCATE & SAFEGUARD
History shows that just because officials say radiation levels are ’normal’ in Kiev after a forest fire near #Chernobyl recently doesn’t make it true:

STEP 2 EVACUATE #FUKUSHIMA NOW
#Fukushima moms take the problem of radiation protection very seriously.  Here's a snapshot of where sentiment is in a place where it’s a daily reality:

STEP 3 CONTROL & CONTAIN
The Japanese government is paying lip service to those concerned about the release of radioactive water from #FukushimaDaiichi into the ocean as the decision about what happens next is delayed again:

STEP 4 NUCLEAR POWER IS OVER
For every study the pro-nuker’s put out to cloud the truth, I can produce dozens of others that state the obvious, the risk alone makes nuclear energy not worth it and until the industry cleans it’s act up, it will continue to be true:

HEY #FUKUFIGHTERS!
Despite censorship of the facts over the years, Facebook is still a place to find groups that are disseminating the truth about #Fukushima all the time.  Check out #Fukushima Response Campaign and add them to your follow list if you’re signed up for FB already:

There's more going on in the world than just Covid-19 news.  Take the onging #FukushimaNuclearDisaster for instance - a continuing story 9 years later.  Read all of this week's top stories, step-by-step:

STEP 1 EDUCATE & SAFEGUARD
Proof positive that Japan’s cover up of the #FukushimaNuclearDisaster is a real thing to this day from Reporters Without Borders:

STEP 2 EVACUATE #FUKUSHIMA NOW
The Olympic flame’s stint in #Fukushima was short lived thanks to coronavirus fears. This dashes all hope of a ‘recovery Olympics’ like Japanese authorities had envisioned:

STEP 3 CONTROL & CONTAIN
A recent meeting in #Fukushima over how to handle the radioactive waste water situation made it clear there are no easy answers yet:
A mayor in #Fukushima says the contaminated water stored at the Dai-ichi site should be released near Tokyo instead of #Fukushima Prefecture.  An interesting idea:

STEP 4 NUCLEAR POWER IS OVER
As the fleet of nuclear plants around the world gets more decrepit with time, the threat of Covid-19 on it’s work force is becoming more and more of a concern:

HEY #FUKUFIGHTERS!
Half of the information I receive every week about #Fukushima comes from newsletters from individuals and organizations doing the good work.  Beyond Nuclear always has an interesting spin on how to stop the nuclear industry’s dirty deeds and I highly recommend their regularly updated content:

Just because you're stuck indoors doesn't mean you have to miss out on everything that's STILL going on around the nuclear world we're living in.  Get caught up now, step-by-step:

STEP 1 EDUCATE & SAFEGUARD
Anytime a forest fire near a nuclear disaster site happens, radionuclides are reintroduced into the environment.  This just happened again near Chernobyl:

STEP 2 EVACUATE #FUKUSHIMA NOW
It was only a matter of time before the sacks of radioactive waste that were collected in #Fukushima would prove to be a health hazard.  After years of neglect, these bags are now deadly to be around at all:

STEP 3 CONTROL & CONTAIN
Protective gear is essential in the fight against Covid-19 AND at #FukusimaDaiichi and the supply shortage is worrying on both fronts:

STEP 4 NUCLEAR POWER IS OVER
With ’stay at home’ orders across the world, the need for nuclear power safety is more important now than ever that’s why green activists are calling for the shuttering of nuke plants now before illness forces the issue:

HEY #FUKUFIGHTERS!
Covid-19’s effect on the nuclear issue gets a good examination in another go-to edition of the Nuclear Hotseat with Libbe HaLevy:

Covid-19 concerns have postponed the Summer Olympics and cases in Japan are on the rise.  This is on top of what's STILL going on at #FukushimaDaiichi.  Find out more about it right now, step-by-step:

STEP 1 EDUCATE & SAFEGUARD
Now that the Summer Olympics have been pushed back by one year, what does that mean for #Fukushima?  Business as usual in the Japanese parliament:

STEP 2 EVACUATE #FUKUSHIMA NOW
While everyone is keeping up with coronavirus numbers on the news, few realize that behind the scenes, #FukushimaRadiation becomes less and less of a concern:

STEP 3 CONTROL & CONTAIN
So when TEPCO said it would take 30-40 years to decommission the Dai-ichi plant in #Fukushima, what they really meant was it would take that long just to release the radioactive water, taking down the plant itself is going to take MUCH longer:

STEP 4 NUCLEAR POWER IS OVER
What does Covid-19 do to nuclear power engineers?  The same thing as everyone else!  What happens when reactors are short staffed because of the virus, we’ll find out!

HEY #FUKUFIGHTERS!
In a follow up to last week’s “Fukushima 50” update, check out this interview with the special FX designer behind the movie and what it was like employing people in #Fukushima to help complete the work on the movie, interesting stuff:

#Fukushima who?  The race to Tokyo 2020 is coming down to the wire and Japan's Prime Minister's legacy depends on it.   Covid-19 isn't the only game in town, see for yourself step-by-step:

STEP 1 EDUCATE & SAFEGUARD
The Olympic torch has arrived in Japan but with the Games start now in question due to Covid-19, the big plan to show off the ‘reconstruction’ of #Fukushima is now in question too:

STEP 2 EVACUATE #FUKUSHIMA NOW
So get this, because Japan has insisted on lifting evacuation orders in #Fukushima Prefecture, courts are agreeing with TEPCO to pay victims of the nuclear disaster there LESS for their suffering:
AND now monies marked for renewable energy promotion are being diverted back to storage of radioactive waste in the prefecture as well, see how they do?

STEP 3 CONTROL & CONTAIN
Fairewinds Associates has been covering the #Fukushima situation from a different perspective since it began and Arnie Gunderson’s evaluation of how things have gone the past 9 years there is spot on, especially when it comes to what the nuclear industry has wanted this whole time - for us to forget about it:

STEP 4 NUCLEAR POWER IS OVER
KEPCO, the other nuclear power heavy weight in Japan can’t do anything right so they have to shut down one of their still-active reactors because of unaddressed safety issues:

HEY #FUKUFIGHTERS!
The film industry has taken a hit when it comes to distribution of movies since the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic which is a real shame timing wise for the new feature from Japan, “Fukushima 50”.  This dramatization of the events of 3.11.11 in Japan and the devastating after effects of TEPCO’s triple meltdown disaster at it’s Dai-ichi plant has been high on my must-see list since I heard it went into production.  If the trailer is any indication, it’ll be an emotional roller coaster for any #FukuFighter:

It was easy to forget about the 9th anniversary of the start of the #FukushimaNuclearDisaster this week with all the coronavirus news but we didn't!  Here's a wrap-up of the latest from Japan to catch you up, step-by-step:

STEP 1 EDUCATE & SAFEGUARD
The beginning of the disaster marked the end of year 9 this week but uncertainty awaits the ‘recovery’ as the coronavirus starts a cascading effect on the process in #Fukushima:

STEP 2 EVACUATE #FUKUSHIMA NOW
If TEPCO’s response to the nuclear disaster is any indication of how things will go with this coronavirus, the little guy is going to get screwed over big time:
At least in Sendai, some judges know what justice is about still:

STEP 3 CONTROL & CONTAIN
Want a comprehensive look at the current state of the reactors at #Fukushima Daiichi?  The #FukuFighters at SimplyInfo break it all down one-by-one so go get caught up:

STEP 4 NUCLEAR POWER IS OVER
The amount of radioactive waste in our oceans is staggering and until we do something about it, it’s going to get worse:

HEY #FUKUFIGHTERS!
Other victims that we should never forget from the start of the #FukushimaNuclearDisaster are the sailors from Operation Tomodachi who are STILL struggling to have their day in court, 8 years later.  There is news about the proceedings though and don’t forget #FukuFighters, those sailors need our support so let’s give it to them!

As the 9th anniversary of the #Fukushima Nuclear Disaster fast approaches, it's more important than ever to keep up on the latest news out of Japan, step-by-step:

STEP 1 EDUCATE & SAFEGUARD
Another ‘all-clear’ signal for a hot zone near #FukushimaDaiichi means more PR, less support for actual residents of Futaba:

STEP 2 EVACUATE #FUKUSHIMA NOW
The 2020 Olympic Torch relay is starting soon but residents in #Fukushima aren’t thrilled to see their region being used as propaganda when so much needs to be fixed first:

STEP 3 CONTROL & CONTAIN
Decomissioning of the crippled reactors at #FukushimaDaiichi will go on during the Summer Olympics, IF there are Summer Olympics:

STEP 4 NUCLEAR POWER IS OVER
The shape of wind energy is about get a big makeover, courtesy of Japanese innovation post #Fukushima:

HEY #FUKUFIGHTERS!

A lot of problems still exist at the #Fukushima Daiichi plant site, more than you probably know about, until now.  Here's the latest, step-by-step:
STEP 1 EDUCATE & SAFEGUARD
The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) says it’s okay to dump water from #FukushimaDaiichi into the ocean but public sentiment is strongly against in Japan:

STEP 2 EVACUATE #FUKUSHIMA NOW
When they re-open areas in the evacuation zone of #Fukushima, it’s rarely reported how sparse support

STEP 3 CONTROL & CONTAIN
The coronavirus is effecting the recovery process at #FukushimaDaiichi in a way people probably never thought it would.  How long before it starts being even more problematic as the outbreak continues to spread:

STEP 4 NUCLEAR POWER IS OVER
The cost of nukes has never made any sense but now that the industry is on it’s last legs, it seems dumber than ever to pour money into an uninsurable industry:

HEY #FUKUFIGHTERS!
With the 9th anniversary of the #FukushimaNuclearDisaster just days away, it’s time for you to put this event on your calendar.  Click the link below to join Michael Post of Samadhi Sea of Wisdom in a guided meditation session for the victims of 3.11.2011, which is all of us.

There's more going on in our radioactive world than we're being told on the regular.  Get caught up for yourself, step-by-step:

STEP 1 EDUCATE & SAFEGUARD
As the 2020 Olympics fast approaches, concerns about radioactive exposure persist, despite what the ones in charge insist upon:

STEP 2 EVACUATE #FUKUSHIMA NOW
With everyone worrying about the coronavirus spread, it’s easy to forget when important info like #Fukushima food export bans being lifted overseas:

STEP 3 CONTROL & CONTAIN
TEPCO’s got it’s own problem in the courts and at the plant site itself:

STEP 4 NUCLEAR POWER IS OVER
The current administration in France still wants to keep nuclear energy viable but politics, pressure and time are forcing them to shut down their fleet one by one:

HEY #FUKUFIGHTERS!
Protecting the pets of #Fukushima that have been left behind is a big responsibility but it’s happening every day thanks to SORA animal peace project in #Fukushima.  Please help support their work in anyway you can, follow and promote!

466 weeks after the #FukushimaNuclearDisaster began and the problems keep piling up.  Find out more about it before another week passes you by, step-by-step:

STEP 1 EDUCATE & SAFEGUARD
With the 2020 Summer Olympic torch relay set to begin, still-radioactive Futaba in Japan will be a stop along the way for the runners:
No wonder South Korea is getting flack for throwing shade at the Tokyo Games with these promotional posters:

STEP 2 EVACUATE #FUKUSHIMA NOW
The reuse of contaminated soil in and around #Fukushima Prefecture has been a big topic of debate there for years.  Notice how we never hear anything about it here in the U.S. even though we have the same kind of problems all over the place:

STEP 3 CONTROL & CONTAIN
Why is it important to have a wind map around the #Fukushima nuclear site?  Reactors 1-3 are still leaking radiation into the air, 3264 days later, that’s why:

STEP 4 NUCLEAR POWER IS OVER
When it comes to radiation contamination, nobody ever talks about how fractured gas extraction or ‘fracking’ contributes to the problem but they should:

HEY #FUKUFIGHTERS!
I spoke with Lonnie Clark this week about everything that’s going on with #FukushimaDaiichi and as usual, we spoke about things that NEVER get talked about in the mainstream media because they think it’s ’too scary’. So if you’re not a scaredy cat and have an hour to spare, give this special episode of the Age of Fission Radio show a spin:

Nukes are more complicated than people even realize for a lot of reasons, that's why we've got you covered on all the latest, step-by-step:

STEP 1 EDUCATE & SAFEGUARD
As the Summer Olympics draws closer, it’s time to look at the ‘funny math’ involved in the #Fukushima cover up:

STEP 2 EVACUATE #FUKUSHIMA NOW
Bringing back fishing in the hardest hit areas of Japan post-#Fukushima has been an uphill climb since 2011 but they’re still trying and we applaud them for it:

STEP 3 CONTROL & CONTAIN
The other nuclear plant in #Fukushima that suffered damage from the earthquake and tsunami on 3.11 but didn’t melt down, #Fukushima Daini is going to take 44 years (at least) to decommission properly:

STEP 4 NUCLEAR POWER IS OVER
I knew there was a reason I never went for that Iran nuclear deal (other than the fact that using a radioactive carrot and stick approach to diplomacy is just dumb).  Now we know it’s shady AF:

HEY #FUKUFIGHTERS!
With the 9th anniversary of the #FukushimaNuclearDisaster just weeks away, it’s time to see what’s planned to mark the annual passage of time in Japan.  It looks like the activism is still ready and raring to go there:

The arguments for dumping radioactive water from #Fukushima in the headlines this week need closer examination.  The details listed below shows why that's a bad idea, step-by-step:

STEP 1 EDUCATE & SAFEGUARD
A recent visit to the plant site at #FukushimaDaiichi shows that releasing the water from there doesn’t make much sense unless they’ve been doing it the whole time:

STEP 2 EVACUATE #FUKUSHIMA NOW
The composition of radioactive particulate matter has a lot to do with which reactor it came from at #FukushimaDaiichi.  If you’re ready to learn about the ‘black glass’ problem that plagues the surrounding area in detail, read on:

STEP 3 CONTROL & CONTAIN
Another robot goes into reactor 2 at #FukushimaDaiichi to measure how much radiation is in the building as the long slog continues at the plant site:

STEP 4 NUCLEAR POWER IS OVER
The Iran nuclear deal may be dead according to the White House but nobody told that to the banks in charge of making that deal happen apparently:

HEY #FUKUFIGHTERS!
Can you believe I’ve been doing the #FukuFriday Happy Hour Hangout every week for 5 years now?  It’s just my little way of providing a roadmap for future generations to see past all our past mistakes and build toward a brighter future.  If you haven’t checked it out lately, stop on by and hit the Like button on your way thru!

The countdown to #TOKYO2020 has begun but what does that mean for #Fukushima?  Find out right now with the links below, step-by-step:

STEP 1 EDUCATE & SAFEGUARD
With the 2020 Summer Olympics and Paralympics just 6 months away the focus on #Fukushima is being underplayed by the government at every level:

STEP 2 EVACUATE #FUKUSHIMA NOW
The whole reason why they’re saying there’s no threat to participants in #Fukushima this summer is part of the larger cover up put in place when the nuclear disaster began:

STEP 3 CONTROL & CONTAIN
A calcium chloride leak at #FukushimaDaiichi shows that it’s not just one problem there at the sticker plant, it’s a plurality:

STEP 4 NUCLEAR POWER IS OVER
Even the industry knows that the end is near for nuclear power as it stands now.  Cost is the determining factor:

HEY #FUKUFIGHTERS!

What's going on in the world of nuclear energy?  The same thing that that's causing climate change and we're in a race to see if we can stop it in time.  Here's how, step-by-step:

STEP 1 EDUCATE & SAFEGUARD
The nuclear energy risk model can’t stand up to mother nature, so says this latest Japanese court decision:

STEP 2 EVACUATE #FUKUSHIMA NOW
The start of the 2020 Olympic Torch relay is taking place in #Fukushima Prefecture as a symbol of ‘recovery’ but really it’s all about propaganda!

STEP 3 CONTROL & CONTAIN
A mysterious blob of warm water has been killing sea life along the Pacific west coast for years now, gee I wonder where all that warm water came from?

STEP 4 NUCLEAR POWER IS OVER
Anyone wondering why nuclear power has endured so long need only follow the money:

HEY #FUKUFIGHTERS!
While climate change is becoming a hot button issue all around the world, no one is connecting the dots between warming waters around the world being impacted by nuclear energy.  Aren’t most nuclear sites cooled by water?  What happens to all that heated water when it’s released back into the environment?  These are the questions that we really need to ask:

The reports going around that wildlife in #Fukushima is thriving is the same old propaganda they ran on us in Chernobyl.  You won't find that kind of garbage here in the Round Up, just the real facts you need to know, step-by-step:

STEP 1 EDUCATE & SAFEGUARD
There was a false alarm at the Pickering Nuclear Power plant in Canada this past week and for an hour and half, Ontarians were left wondering what to do because proper emergency preparations are lacking whenever nuclear is involved:

STEP 2 EVACUATE #FUKUSHIMA NOW
Please note the Let’s Make A Deal aspect to how the Philippines eased restrictions on #Fukushima food exports.  Profits over people is always the name of the game:

STEP 3 CONTROL & CONTAIN
The water issue at #FukushimaDaiichi has been a major bone of contention between Japan and South Korea for a while now and PM Abe’s latest remarks aren’t helping:

STEP 4 NUCLEAR POWER IS OVER
France is so beholden to nukes, it’s hard for them to divorce themselves for it but at least they’re starting to embrace a future without them:

HEY #FUKUFIGHTERS!
With the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo just around the corner, now is a great time to remind people of the radioactive risks that still exist there.  Take a listen to this episode of the Nuclear Hotseat Podcast with Libbe HaLevy to get a wider perspective and share it with athletes and trainers going to Japan this September:

As renewable energy takes center stage, old tech nuclear limps to it's inevitable finish, thanks to you #FukuFighters!  Let's celebrate together, step-by-step:

STEP 1 EDUCATE & SAFEGUARD
Inspired by the events of 03.11.2011, Germany’s phase out of nuclear energy continues with another plant closure on the books.

STEP 2 EVACUATE #FUKUSHIMA NOW
The real recovery of #Fukushima Prefecture will come as it becomes a renewable energy resource and model for the future of the country:

STEP 3 CONTROL & CONTAIN
Mixed oxide (MOX) fuel rods are being replaced at Ikata #3 in Ehime Prefecture.  This is what was ejected from reactor 3 at #Fukushima Daiichi when it exploded so we need to keep our fingers crossed that Shikoku Electric Power knows what they’re doing:

STEP 4 NUCLEAR POWER IS OVER
When Warren Buffett, one of the richest men on the planet puts down a bet on solar plants instead of backing nuclear energy, it says a lot about the future, don’t you think?

HEY #FUKUFIGHTERS!
Nuclear activist Janette Sherman passed away in 2019 but her impact on the issues we all face from this obsolete technology will echo thru the generations if we continue to share her work with each other.  Check out Libbe HaLevy’s interview with Dr. Sherman in this episode of the Nuclear Hotseat Podcast from 2015:
